 Roberto Ferreyra: Calavera Festiva, 2008

Roberto Ferreyra (Chicago, USA): Calavera Festiva, 2008

Calavera Festiva (festive skeleton). This skeleton, which is moving to the rhythm of the music, is accompanied by a six-legged dog. The skeleton has a tequila bottle on his hands and wears a baseball cap. It may be that the tequila has already produced its effects and the skeleton is celebrating the victory of his favorite team. Or maybe he is lamenting a loss which is something we do not know. At the end this skeleton is smiling and enjoying life.

Roberto Ferreyra (b. 1957 Morelia, Mexico) graduated from the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking "La Esmeralda." He was initially drawn to the fine arts from the works of the great Mexican muralists Rivera, Siqueiros and Orozco. "We look at his work today, it is clear that we are in the presence of a gifted artist whose inspiration draws strongly on the pre-Colombian culture and images." Roberto’s works have been shown in Spain, Canada (Montreal, Toronto), United States (New York, Chicago) as well as in his own country. His works have also appeared in many art magazines from Mexico and other countries.
